Untitled (why)

The work exists in a single-panel and a thirteen-panel version. The former consists of a sequence of the word dlaczego (“why”) arranged as text in lines filling the entire interior of a square or rectangle. The expanded version comprises panels with a single word “why” in the centre and panels densely filled with the word “why,” among which the same word appears randomly in capital letters. The order of the boards is determined by the system adopted by the author, together with instructions for the installation of the series within the gallery space. This is another systemic work by Dróżdż, expanded from an original single piece into a series according to a predetermined system – similarly to The Hourglass, FROM TO and circle. It has been presented as a typescript and an enlarged photographic print, as well as a computer printout.
