Untitled (white draughts)

A real-object work consisting of a draughts board and pieces, all entirely white. By eliminating the conventional black–white opposition, Dróżdż, as in his concept-shapes where linguistic elements are removed from their system, reveals the significance of the system’s dual structure. The absence of contrast demonstrates that opposing elements confer meaning upon one another. Given that his concept-shapes consistently operate within the black-and-white opposition, this work may be regarded as a culminating synthesis of his artistic practice. The object has been made of white Plexiglas.
