Description
This object functioned as a self-commentary on the presentation of The Hourglass. A long, narrow strip of white paper hanging from the ceiling (wound on a small roll at the top) was placed next to the series of boards forming this systemic serial work. A straight black line ran symmetrically down the centre of the strip along its entire length. The tape fell freely to the floor, creating a chaotic tangle. The concept visualises the passage of time in a different way than The Hourglass: whereas the 54 boards form a horizontal sequence encouraging lateral movement, the vertical line suggests a top-down flow, analogous to sand or water in an hourglass.
