Description
Two instances of the word środek (“centre”), each cut into two halves (three letters and three letters), intersect at a central point that remains an empty space. This creates a tautological situation: the word “centre” indicates both its own centre and the centre of the whole arrangement. Contrary to the usual notion of the centre as a point of maximum density, here the centre is emptiness. The intersecting word-lines also evoke the Cartesian coordinate system and the number “0” at its origin, continuing Dróżdż’s ontological reflection on space and time. The work has been executed as black foil letters mounted on a rigid white support or as a digital print on Dibond.
