Untitled (man – people)
The work is based on the mutual relations between the concepts of człowiek (“man”) and ludzie (“people”). It consists of six black horizontal rectangles arranged in two columns and three rows. In the centre of each rectangle appears a single word written in white letters, ordered from top to bottom and from left to right: człowiek, ludzie / ludzie, człowiek / człowiek, ludzie. Each letter of the first word człowiek is filled with the same word repeated many times; the first word ludzie is likewise filled with repetitions of the same word. In the second ludzie, the word człowiek is repeated many times, and in the second człowiek, the word ludzie is repeated many times. In the third człowiek, both repeated words are superimposed; similarly in the third ludzie. The work reflects on the relationship between the concepts expressed by człowiek and ludzie, that is, between the individual human being and the collective. It has been presented as a hand-painted and handwritten board placed on the floor.
