Untitled (circle)
The work consists of sixteen squares, each containing the word koło (“circle”), whose letters rotate around their own axis in clockwise and counter-clockwise directions. The concept is based on tautology. The original version comprised letters placed on a board in a vertical arrangement, with each successive letter positioned contrary to the clockwise movement. The work has been presented as separate boards placed on the floor in a 4 × 4 arrangement, spaced so as to allow movement around each square in accordance with the rotation of the letters. It has also been produced as a conceptual presentation in the form of cut squares affixed to a square base, as a photographic print and as a digital print on foil. A permanent version has been executed in stone in public space in Wrocław (pl. Nowy Targ, 2016).
