Forgetting

Description
The work presents the word zapominanie (“forgetting”), which in successive lines is gradually reduced by one letter at a time, ending with a full stop. This is Dróżdż’s first concept-shape. It visualises the process of forgetting over time and is based on an analogy with the Cartesian coordinate system in mathematics. The work has been presented both as black letters on a white background and as white letters on a black background, in many versions: as a typescript on paper, a photographic print, an exhibition board with text handwritten in ink on Bristol board, printed on paper and foil, and as a mural on the exterior wall of a building.
